Most "ageing skin" is actually photoageing — damage from UV radiation. Pigmentation spots, redness, uneven texture and fine lines caused by sun damage. Laser is the most effective treatment for these specific problems.

Laser types for anti-ageing

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

  • Targets: Pigmentation spots, redness, age spots
  • Number: 3–5 treatments
  • Price: SEK 1,500–3,500/session

Fractional laser (non-ablative)

  • Targets: Fine lines, texture, pores
  • Number: 3–4 treatments
  • Price: SEK 3,500–6,500/session

Nd:YAG

  • Targets: Deeper pigment, visible blood vessels
  • Number: 2–4 treatments
  • Price: SEK 2,500–5,000/session

When does laser work best?

  • Sun damage, pigmentation, age spots
  • Redness and visible vessels (tendency towards rosacea)
  • Uneven texture and enlarged pores
  • Fine lines caused by photoageing
Abstract laser light for anti-ageing and skin clarity

When is laser NOT suitable?

  • Tanned skin — wait until autumn
  • Ongoing pregnancy
  • Melasma — requires a special protocol; some lasers make it worse
  • Herpes without antiviral prophylaxis

Pigmentation spots — why laser beats everything else

Creams with hydroquinone, retinol and vitamin C reduce pigmentation. Laser destroys the melanin aggregates deep down. A course of IPL can erase spots that creams have been working on for years.

After laser — strict sun protection

4 weeks without direct sun before, 4–6 weeks after. SPF50 daily, otherwise you risk the pigmentation spots coming back worse than before. See the sun protection guide.
