Aesthetic treatments are medical procedures
Botox, fillers, laser treatments and the like are medical procedures that can cause side effects. Since 1 July 2021, these have been regulated by the Act on Aesthetic Surgical Procedures and Aesthetic Injection Treatments (2021:363). Only licensed healthcare professionals may perform injection treatments.
Always check for yourself
- Check the practitioner's licence with Socialstyrelsen.
- Check the clinic's IVO notification with the Health and Social Care Inspectorate.

- Before an aesthetic injection treatment, a cooling-off period of at least two days applies after you have received the information about the treatment. If the same type of injection treatment is repeated within six months of the previous treatment, no new cooling-off period is required. Some clinics charge for the consultation, others include it in the price – always check with the clinic.
