Unlike with Sculptra, you see Radiesse results immediately. But the treatment's real value lies in what happens over the months that follow — the collagen build-up.

Results timeline

Immediately (0–7 days)

Immediate volume lift visible from the gel component. Some swelling can exaggerate the effect during the first 3–5 days.

Weeks 2–4

Swelling subsides. You see your "initial" result — the volume from the gel.

Months 3–6

The gel is absorbed (approx. 30% volume reduction). At the same time, collagen production begins to compensate. Net result: a stable or improved appearance.

Months 6–12

Collagen build-up peaks. The skin feels firmer and its structure improves. This is the real "Radiesse effect".

Months 12–18

Gradual breakdown. Plan maintenance around months 14–18.

Before/after — typical observations

  • Jawline: Sharper definition, less "sagging" along the mandible
  • Cheeks: Lift and firmness
  • Nasolabial folds: Smoothing (but often combined with other fillers)
  • Backs of the hands: Dramatic change — visible veins disappear

Nasolabial folds9–12 months
Backs of the hands12–18 months

Realistic expectations

  • ✅ Structural improvement, not transformation
  • ✅ Both an immediate and a progressive effect
  • ✅ Better skin quality after 6 months
  • ❌ Subtle details — HA filler is better
  • ❌ Reversibility if you change your mind

Photographs are important

Because the result develops in several phases, standardised photos at the time of treatment and at 3 and 6 months give the best evaluation.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my result less visible after 3 months?
Normal. The gel component is absorbed — the volume appears to decrease. But collagen production compensates over months 3–6. The final result is visible at 6 months.
How long does Radiesse really last?
12–18 months depending on the area. The jawline gives the longest duration, nasolabial folds the shortest.
Do I need more treatments?
Typically one treatment gives the desired effect. With significant volume loss, a 2nd session 3 months later may be appropriate. Maintenance every 12–15 months.
