Why get lip filler in Stockholm?
Lip enhancement without looking "plumped" is a highly developed art form in Stockholm. Here, "fuller lips" often just means subtle definition of the lip border or soft volume right at the top — no dramatic transformation. Many Stockholm beauty influencers have "full lips", but it is only noticeable when you know to look for it. Trends here have gone from thicker lips (the 2010s) to a natural, well-defined lip shape (now). Many Stockholm physicians focus on enhancing the natural lip shape rather than changing it completely.
Price level in Stockholm — what affects the price?
We only show price ranges when at least five clinics have stated a price with sufficient supporting data. When there is less data, we do not show an individual clinic's price as if it were a market price.
So compare the clinics' current price information and contact the clinic if the price or treatment plan is not clearly stated.
Many lips only need 0.5 ml the first time — much less than many people think. Return visits for a "touch up" usually cost 30–50% less than the first treatment.
- Stockholm trend: naturally defined lips — not an "inflated" look.
- Many clinics offer "lip-line definition" without volume — just enhancing the natural lip border.
- Before/after photos often focus on symmetry and shape, not thickness.
- Many women have lip enhancement together with botox to keep the mouth natural when the face is slightly relaxed.
- Lip enhancement is popular among both men and women here — many men have it for a more natural, more defined appearance.
How does treatment with lip filler work?
Lip fillers are injections of hyaluronic acid (often the same brand as is used for facial filler) that give fuller and more defined lips. Unlike regular filler, the injection focuses on the structure of the lips — lifting the lip border, enhancing volume and improving the transition between lip and skin. The result is fuller lips that feel natural and soft, not an artificial "puffy" look.

How the treatment is carried out — step by step
- 1
Consultation and design
The practitioner discusses the desired shape, symmetry and volume. Many use "lip mapping" to plan exactly where the fillers are placed. A local numbing cream is applied.
- 2
Injections
Hyaluronic acid is injected along the contour and volume of the lips. The treatment usually takes 15–20 minutes. Many clinics use a fine needle or cannula for minimal trauma.
- 3
Assessment of the result
The practitioner assesses symmetry, shape and swelling straight afterwards. You can often adjust the result the same day if needed.
- 4
Aftercare
You receive written aftercare instructions. Avoid very hot drinks, alcohol and intense exercise for the first 24 hours to minimise swelling.
Recovery and aftercare
Lip filler has minimal downtime. Swelling, redness and bruising are common for the first 24–48 hours but can often be covered with lipstick.
- Use a cold pack on the lips for the first hour after the treatment to reduce swelling.
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine and spicy food for the first 24 hours — they can increase the swelling.
- Sleep on an extra pillow for the first few nights to keep your head raised and reduce fluid build-up.
- Avoid intense exercise and overheating for 48 hours.
- Use an unscented lip balm to keep the lips moisturised during the healing period.
Who is suited to lip filler?
Lip fillers in Stockholm are best suited to you if you had thicker lips when you were young and want to get that back — or if you simply want a nicer lip shape. They also suit you if you have asymmetrical lips and want them to look more even. They are NOT suitable if you are afraid your lips will look "done" — then you can start with just 0.5 ml and give it time before adding more.
Who is not suited to lip filler?
The treatment is not suitable in the following situations. Always mention these during the consultation.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding (hyaluronic acid is usually safe, but physicians recommend caution).
- Active cold sore outbreak — can be triggered by the injection.
- Allergy to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine (the local anaesthetic).
- Blood-thinning medicines or vitamins that can increase bleeding (aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E).
- Active inflammation, infection or injury to the lips.
- Certain autoimmune diseases that can affect healing time.
Differences between brands
Several different products are used in Sweden. The differences are often small — which brand suits you is decided by your practitioner based on your goals and previous treatments.
Restylane Lip
Classic hyaluronic acid filler designed specifically for lips. Gives natural volume and a defined shape.
Juvéderm Volbella
Thin, flexible filler, perfect for the lip border and subtle volume enhancement. Very popular for a natural result.
Versa
Modern filler. Gives an immediate effect and a long-lasting result (12 months).
Belotero
Ultra-smooth filler that works well beneath the outer layer of the lip to reduce wrinkles around the mouth while also lifting the lips.
When will you see the results?
- Immediately afterThe lips look fuller, but often with visible swelling. The final result does not show until the swelling has gone down.
- Day 1–3The swelling starts to go down. The result becomes more natural as the final volume becomes visible.
- Week 1–2All bruising and redness has disappeared. You now see the full result — fuller, well-defined lips.
- 6 monthsThe filler begins to break down naturally. Many people continue treatment before it has completely disappeared in order to maintain the result.
- 12 monthsThe filler has been fully absorbed by the body. You can choose to repeat the treatment to keep the result.
Risks and what to consider
Lip filler is a very safe treatment when performed by trained staff. Common side effects are temporary swelling, redness and bruising that disappear within a few days. Less common complications include asymmetry (can be corrected later), hardness or nodules at injection sites (very rare with modern techniques) and, in very rare cases, an allergic reaction or infection. The risk of vascular or nerve damage is minimal when the injection is given by an experienced practitioner, but it can lead to bruising or temporary numbness. The vast majority of patients are very satisfied with their result.
Before your lip filler in Stockholm
- Avoid lip gloss or petroleum jelly the day before — it can make it harder for the practitioner to mark the right spot.
- Come without lipstick or with a light lipstick that is easy to wash off.
- Avoid blood thinners 24 hours beforehand.
- Eat something cold (ice cream, a smoothie) the day before to reduce the risk of bruising.
- Do not plan important photos or events the same week — possible mild swelling.
- Read about "lip anatomy" beforehand — it helps you understand what the practitioner is talking about.
